Hereford is where it all started. Sensei Tom opened his first dojo in 1975, at the gradeof 4th kyu. This was not planned but the sudden retirement of his teacher left him as the highest grade in the club at the time, and the obvious choice to take over.
Once Hereford was established Tom branched out and over the years started clubs in the following towns – Ross-on-Wye / Ludlow / Hay-on-Wye / Knighton / Leominster/ Malvern / Usk and Tenbury Wells. Most of these clubs are still active today so Tom’s legacy continues to flourish..
Tom gained his76th Dan grade, under the Shukokai World Karate Associations founder, Kawata Sensei 9th Dan. The grading was held in Kobe, Japan at the Samurai Honbu Dojo.
Tom graded Kyoshi in August 2008 under Kawata Sensei 9th Dan.
